Biocontrol – A sustainable investment for small scale-farmers in Zambia

For many small-scale farmers in Zambia, every farming decision matters. Protecting crops from pests is essential, but relying only on chemical pesticides can become expensive over time and may affect the health of the farm. Biological pest control offers a practical and sustainable alternative that helps farmers protect their crops while building a healthier farming system for the future.

Working with nature

Biological pest control, or biocontrol, uses beneficial insects, mites, and naturally occurring microorganisms to manage crop pests. Instead of eliminating all insects, biological control encourages the natural enemies of harmful pests to keep their populations under control. This creates a healthier balance in the field and helps reduce the risk of serious pest outbreaks. A diverse farm with healthy populations of beneficial insects is often better able to withstand pest pressure throughout the growing season.
